Basic Policy on
Legal Wood Procurement

SMBKZ's basic policy is to handle wood and wooden products that are proven to be legally compliant in accordance with Forestry Agency guidelines.
In terms of independent initiatives, SMBKZ is phasing in a requirement for all suppliers (of both wood and wooden products) to supply wood legally and obtain forest certification, in line with the nature of products in each country or region.

Forest Certification

The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC) are two of the leading forest management and certification schemes in the world, and are both operated by international NGOs (non-governmental organizations).
SMBKZ obtains worldwide forest certification (FSC® and PEFC) as part of its commitment to environmental business.
